21 Nov Royal Commission for Yanbu, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia visiting Rotterdam
Study Tours organised a 2 day programme in August for the Royal Commission for Yanbu in the Kingdom of, Saudi Arabia in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. This was organised in close cooperation with PennState and LMI, dedicated to solving the government’s most complex management issues.
Benchmarking Rotterdam’s Center of Excellence
The Royal Commission for Yanbu has created an economic plan that seeks to strengthen its supply chain management and commercialization capacity in the region. The goal is to build a national reputation for Yanbu as a location for logistics service providers entering the Kingdom and serve as dedicated center to fast-track innovation in Saudi Arabian port operations. Consequently, they visited Rotterdam to gain insight in how their Center of Excellence addresses industry and technology challenges facing the planning, movement, storage and supply of goods. As Rotterdam has one of the top 15 Centers in the world, they were in the right place to gain from their expertise how they have made their operation into a world-class facility.
As part of their visit the participants from the Royal Commission of Yanbu, PennState and LMI met with Prof. Rob Zuidwijk, Endowed Professor of Ports in Global Networks, Department of Technology and Operations Management at Rotterdam School of Management (RSM), Erasmus University Rotterdam and with the Port of Rotterdam Authority.
Visiting Port of Rotterdam
In addition to this they had private, guided tours through RDM and the Port of Rotterdam. Last but not least they enjoyed their lunch at Jamie Oliver’s Restaurant in Europe’s largest, inner Markethall and at Hotel New York (HNY).
